15 killed in clashes in central Nigeria

At least 15 people were killed over the past few days in separate attacks in central Nigeria's Benue State, the scene of regular clashes between Christian farmers and nomadic cattle herders, official sources said Wednesday.
Suspected militant herders carried out the attacks on several villages in under 48 hours, Benue State information minister Lawrence Onoja said.
The village of Tse Ishav, near Guma, was attacked at around 3am on Wednesday, with militants "leaving behind eight corpses, several missing and many wounded," he said.
It came after two other people were killed on Monday by the same armed men close to the nearby locality of Yelwata, he added.
The head of Guma's local government Anthony Shawon confirmed the death toll of 10, adding that the attackers set fire to houses and farms as they left.
The same militia also carried out further attacks in the neighbouring district of Logo where "five people were killed... and many more wounded," said Onoja.
The head of the local government Richard Nyajo echoed the report, adding that police reinforcements have been deployed.
Benue state has seen a wave of deadly clashes which have left hundreds dead in recent months.
The area lies in the so-called "Middle Belt" between Nigeria's mainly-Christian south and predominantly-Muslim north.

Daughter of Saudi Arabia King Salman flees Paris after ordering bodyguards to murder a painter and decorator

42 year old Princess Hassa, the daughter of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of Saudi Arabia, has fled Paris, France, after allegedly telling her bodyguard to 'murder a painter and decorator' over the weekend.

According to reports, Princess Hassa allegedly told her bodyguard “You have to kill this dog, he doesn’t deserve to live.” The bodyguard who hasn't been named yet to the media was arrested last week in Paris and appeared before a judge on Sunday where he revealed the allegations while the Princess has reportedly pleaded diplomatic immunity against prosecution.According to the bodyguard's statement in court, (Princess Hassa did not appear in court for the hearing), Hassa was infuriated after catching a 53 year old workman taking pictures of her, and so ordered him to attack the man. According to Le Point magazine, who broke the story, the bodyguard said he had done the “minimum necessary” to “restrain” the workman after the princess caught him taking pictures. The workman was accused of wanting to sell the images of inside of the flat in Avenue Foch, the prestigious road close to the Arc de Triomphe- where the Princess was staying, to the media.
The judicial police said in court there's nothing wrong with painters and decorators taking pictures on their smartphones while doing jobs and the workman's lawyer revealed that the princess ordered her bodyguard to beat the unidentified Frenchman up, tie his hands and feet together, and then made him kiss her feet. And then after four hours, the workman was kicked out of the flat, and told to “never return” to the area.Elie Hatem, the bodyguard’s barrister, says the workman's version of events are false:
“There were more than twenty people in the apartments. How can the facts as outlined by the complainant have been overlooked?”No official statement has so far been released by the Princess, her Dad or the Saudi Arabian embassy in Paris.

Man is charged with murder after his girlfriend commits suicide

A man, Long Vang, 34, is being charged with murder after his girlfriend Jessica Damian Haban, 28, who is the mother of his two children and partner for 11 years, committed suicide in their home.

Here’s how People magazine is reporting it:

A criminal complaint says that on May 11, 2015, Haban called 911 to report that Vang was allegedly throwing things at her.
She alleged he’d overturned a coffee table and used it to restrain her on the couch, then broken the phone as she tried to call police, who showed up and said they found Vang hiding behind a vehicle near the garage.
Less than two weeks later, according to the Post-Bulletin, Vang allegedly punched Haban in the head with a closed fist in their home.
A domestic abuse no-contact order was issued in August 2015, but three months later a witness who “expressed fear that Vang would seriously injure or kill” Haban told police that Vang was allegedly contacting her, the newspaper reports.
Haban shared her fears with a social worker on Dec. 7. But after being hospitalized for mental health treatment, she called the social worker on Dec. 10 and asked to be discharged. The social worker learned Haban had been released on Dec. 13 - three days before Haban killed herself.
“Jessica was a beautiful, highly talented young woman,” her obituary reads. “She excelled in everything she did. She loved her children with all her heart and did everything she could to make their dreams come true.”
“She aspired to be a cosmetologist, also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to dance and was the Zumba queen of fitness. She had such an eccentric and loving personality; her smile could light up a room. She really made an impact on many people’s lives and was known for her caring heart, long conversations and putting others in front of her own personal needs. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and genuine friend.”

Two teenagers aged 14 and 17 admit to the murder of a transgender following unwanted sex demand

Two teenage homosexual boys, aged just 14 and 17, confessed to murdering and hiding the body of a Transgender under the bed of a hotel following their arrest by police on Sunday afternoon, August 21.

Guests at a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand  were shocked after staff discovered a dead body underneath the bed where the boys had slept the previous night. The couple told police they had no idea the body was there.
The body of the victim was discovered by a maid after the couple had already checked out of the hotel located on Soi Buakhao. As she was cleaning the room, the hotel maid found a large amount of blood close to the foot of the bed and raised the alarm.

Police attended the scene on Saturday morning and found the body after they lifted up the mattress of the bed. Police, who have sent the body for forensic examination to determine the cause of death, said the unidentified victim had been dead for around 3 days. On Friday, a couple checked into the same room and immediately complained about a foul smell and asked staff if they could spray some air freshener in their room.   Pattaya police chief Pol Col Apichai Kropphet said officers had viewed CCTV footage and identified two men they believe are the suspects. A hunt for the killers was launched and within 24 hours investigators apprehended the two teenagers at a bus terminal waiting to board a bus bound for their hometown in Kora.During questioning the pair admired to murder with the elder of the two telling cops he strangled the bar worker with the help of his younger friend who held her legs because the victim wanted to have sex with him.He went on to explain the pair had become friends via Facebook and  she encouraged the teenager to come to Pattaya and look for work offering to help take care of him.He arrived with his 14-year-old friend for company , he then booked the hotel room and brought them food when she finished working at a local bar.All was fine until Thursday night when the trio returned to the room and the topic of sex came up. The pair became involved in a heated argument when the teenager turned down her request for sex that led to a physical altercation that ultimately resulted in murder. The elder teen admitted he went into a rage after hearing the transgender's proposition for sex as he believed she wanted to help him without anything in return which turned out not to be the case.
The pair have been charged with premeditated murder and concealment of a body, with other charges likely to follow. More photos from the crime scene:

Child suicide bomber kills 50 people at Turkey wedding as guests danced in the street

A teenage suspected Islamic State child suicide bomber killed at least 50 wedding guests dancing in a street in Turkey on Saturday. President Tayyip Erdogan blamed the massacre on Islamic State and said the killer, who wore an explosive belt, was about 12 to 14 years old.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke in a live nationally-televised address in front of Istanbul city Hall early Sunday morning, saying least 50 people were killed and dozens of others wounded in the attack which took place late Saturday evening in the southeastern city of Gaziantep.

The blast occurred in the Beybahce neighborhood of Gaziantep's Sahinbey district about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the Gaziantep governor's office. Gaziantep is about 95 kilometers (60 miles) north of the war-torn Syrian city of Aleppo. The target was a crowded street in a Kurdish neighborhood where the Kurdish wedding party was taking place, according to Turkey-based journalist Andrew Finkel

Erdogan added that there was “absolutely no difference” between ISIS, Kurdish rebels and the movement behind the U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen, calling them terrorists.

He said 69 people were wounded, with 17 of them in critical condition.

According to a statement by the chief public prosecutor's office, the remains of a suicide vest have been recovered at the site:

"We stand with the people of Turkey as they defend their democracy in the face of all forms of terrorism. We are in close touch with Turkish authorities," National Security Council spokesman Ned Price responded, calling the attack "barbaric."

Father took his three kids to a theme park before killing them, their mum and himself in murder-suicide

A US father took his three children to a theme park in Pennsylvania earlier this month but the next day, they were found dead.

In a news conference on Monday August 15, Berks County District Attorney John Adams confirmed 40-year-old Mark Short fatally shot them, their mother and their family dog in a murder-suicide.
On Aug. 6, police arrived at the Short's home after receiving a call from his mother-in-law, who reported that her daughter, Megan Short, 33, was having domestic issues with her husband, Attorney John Adams said. She said that Megan Short had missed a lunch date with her, which left her worried.

"The mother unsuccessfully attempted to contact Megan via cellphone and house phone," Adams said, so she contacted the police.

On that Saturday afternoon, officers entered their home through a kitchen window and found five bodies. Three were the Short children, 8-year-old Liana; 5-year-old Mark Jr.; and Willow, age 2. Megan Short, their mother, was also dead. A handgun was found next to the fifth body, a man later identified as Mark Jason Short Sr.

Adams this week detailed the events that led up to the fatal shootings at the Pennsylvania home in a news conference Monday. The incident made national headlines earlier this month: how Short and the children had visited Hersheypark; how husband and wife were in the midst of separating; and how Megan Short had gotten an apartment and was planning to move.

Authorities believe Mark Short was the gunman in the murder-suicide; he is believed to have shot his wife and children before turning the firearm on himself, officials said.

"These children were young," Adams said. "And whenever we lose youthful, innocent human beings, it's never easy for a community to recover from that. So the fact of the matter is, is that it will be difficult, and hopefully we will remember these children for years to come, and how their lives were innocently taken by their father."

Authorities say Megan Short had made plans for her future. She had rented an apartment and was planning to finishing moving on Aug. 6, the day the bodies were discovered. Adams told reporters that family members were at the apartment, waiting to help her move. They called a neighbor when she didn't show, and later, Megan Short's mother called police.

An investigation found that in early June, security was called to a Philadelphia hotel room where Megan and Mark Short were staying. The reason: a domestic dispute, Adams said. Then, on July 18, police responded to the Short home, and again, it was because of a domestic dispute. No charges were filed, and no physical injuries were discovered.

"The police department did everything that they are legally able to do in that situation," the district attorney said.

Mark Short purchased ammunition and a gun, a .38-caliber revolver, in July, one day after the domestic dispute was reported. He was going to rent a moving van to help Megan Short with the move, according to Adams.

The bodies were all discovered on the floor in a living room area of the home, said the district attorney. Authorities also found a one-page note, some of which was admission that Mark Short bought the firearm and committed the homicides.

"This was very, very unfortunate incident," Adams said. "I don't know that anything can be learned, other than when leaving an abusive relationship, it's often a very dangerous time for a victim. So we urge anyone who is in a similar situation to develop a safety plan and contact their local domestic violence agency for assistance.

Two children where allegedly drowned and their bodies hidden by mother in Houston & she request for help to run away

A 30-year-old Houston mother named Sheborah Thomas allegedly (pictured) drowned her 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter in a bathtub, hid their bodies and requested for help from a neighbour to run away.

According to reports, Sheborah, who has no history of any mental illness, drowned the two children Orayln and Kahana in a bathtub and tried burying her children in her backyard.

When it was proving too difficult to cover up, she hid their bodies under a neighbor’s home instead.  Days after the act, Sheborah told an acquaintance who came upon her throwing away trash in a field, that she needed help moving right away. When she was asked about her kids, Sheborah calmly admitted to killing two of her three children, and burying them under the house.

“She was so matter of fact about it he didn’t think she was serious. He thought she was joking,” Houston police spokesman Kese Smith said. The shocked neighbor drove Shenborah to the nearest police precinct after realizing she repeatedly confirmed killing two of her three children.

Police eventually recovered the children’s bodies under the house, just as Sheborah confessed and she now faces capital murder charges

Russian diplomat in Rio drags motorcycle robber into his car and shoots him dead

A would-be robber on a motorcycle met his end at the hands of the Russian vice-consul in Rio who dragged the thief into his car and shot him dead at pointblank range.
The incident unfolded just after the Olympic torch relay had passed by on the last day before the Rio 2016 opening ceremony and Olympic cyclists from Slovenia were passing by on a training exercise at the time.
Marcos Cesar Feres Braga, a Brazilian lawyer who holds the vice-consul post at the Russian consulate, reportedly grabbed the attacker who was with an accomplice and pulled him into his BMW X6 after he had smashed the car window and pointed a gun at him, demanding he hand over his watch.
The robber picked the wrong target. Mr Braga who was travelling with his wife and daughter at the time is trained in the Brazilian martial art of Jiu-Jitsu and those skills came in handy.
In the ensuing scuffle, the diplomat dragged the robber into his car, wrestled the gun off him and shot him dead at pointblank range.
His accomplice promptly fled the scene after his partner's death.
The body of the mugger, named as Leonardo Lopes Batista, which lay for several hours on the road as police underwent investigations, was seen by various Olympic delegations which passed by on the special Olympic lanes close to the crime scene.
But the Russian General Consul in Rio has denied any diplomat was involved in the shooting.
'Brazilian media reports that a Russian diplomat was allegedly involved in an incident that led to the death of a Brazilian national during an armed attack is not true,' Vladimir Tokmakov said.'All Russian diplomats and personnel of Russian foreign institutions located in Rio de Janeiro are safe and sound and are of no relation to the aforesaid incident. 'The man who was involved in the incident could have presented himself as a general consulate employee.'
In a statement, Rio's 31st Military Police Battalion, which investigated the incident, said  Braga 'acted quickly pulling the criminal inside the car, took his revolver and fired it towards him.'
Rio's Homicide Police Station said investigators were still at the crime scene, more than five hours following the shooting.
A spokesman said: 'The man involved is a lawyer and also the vice-consul of Russia. He is Brazilian and a native of Rio de Janeiro. 'He is not part of or has any relation with the Olympic committee of Russia which is in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics.'
Rio's reputation for violent is a cause for concern as the games get underway and the United States has warned its citizens about the risks of venturing into crime-ridden shanty towns known as favelas.

In what is being described as Japan's worst mass killing in decades, at least 19 people are dead and 45 wounded in a knife attack on Tuesday at a facility for the handicapped in a city just west of Tokyo. (Read here). The face of of the perpetrator of the attacks has been revealed. 26-year-old Satoshi Uematsu turned himself in following the stabbing spree, confessing to the police that he wanted to "get rid of the disabled from this world".  According to Japanese media reports, He sent bizarre texts around the time he committed the sickening crime. He was also reportedly seen handing out fliers near the facility that said: "It is wasteful to have the disabled continue living" earlier this year. Authorities said Uematsu had been admitted to a hospital back in February, after police contacted him in response to a letter he had attempted to pass to the speaker of the lower house of Japan’s parliament. In the letter, Uematsu argued that the government should permit euthanasia for disabled people. He said he would be willing to carry out such killings himself, and detailed how he would do it. “I envision a world where a person with multiple disabilities can be euthanised, with an agreement from the guardians, when it is difficult for the person to carry out household and social activities.” He claimed he could wipe out a total of 470 disabled individuals” by targeting two facilities for disabled people during the night shift, when staffing is low. "The act will be carried out speedily, and definitely without harming the staff. After wiping out the 260 people in two facilities, I will turn myself in."

28 year old housewife is sentenced to death in Delta state by hanging for stabbing her husband to death and setting his boby ablaze

A 28 year-old housewife, Mary Attah has been condemned to death by hanging by an Effurun High Court for stabbing her Pastor husband, Darlington Attah, with a kitchen knife and setting him ablaze. Prosecution from the Delta State Ministry of Justice had told the Court that the accused who was married to Darlington Attah (now deceased) with four children, on or about the 6th day of July, 2012 at Effurun within the Effurun Judicial Division did attack her husband with a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the neck as a result of an alleged phone call from the husband’s lover. The Court was further told that the accused was infuriated by the telephone call at a time they were having a ‘nice time’ which prompted her to rush to the kitchen, collected the knife and armed herself with grounded pepper which she rubbed on her husband’s face to immobilize him before stabbing him in the neck. Not satisfied, she doused the husband who was already weak as a result of excessive bleeding with fuel and set him ablaze. He later gave up the ghost at the Warri Central Hospital where he was rushed to where Medical Doctors efforts to save his life failed. The Court sentenced the 28 years old mother of four to death having been pronounced guilty of the one count charge proffered against her by the Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. The offence is punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C21, Volume 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006. eJustice Oritsjafor of the Effurun High Court while delivering the death verdict held that prosecution led by an Assistant Director, Patrick Mekako was able to prove beyond all reasonable doubt the essential ingredients of the offence of murder against the accused person. “I must also add that the evidence before this Court do not and cannot support the plea of self defense in favour of the accused person. I agree with the learned Assistant Director for the Prosecution that there is just no possible defence to avail the accused person when she stabbed her deceased husband in the neck with a knife and thereafter doused him with fuel before she struck the match on him was to kill the deceased or do him grievous bodily harm. The law is trite that a man intends the natural consequences of his act.” Justice Oritsjafor held. Continuing “from the evidence before this Court and in particular the extrajudicial statement of the accused person, Exhibit A and the evidence of PW1 and PW2 which corroborates and is consistent with the facts contained in the said extrajudicial statement Exhibit A, I hold that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused person murdered her deceased husband on or about the 6th day of July, 2012, and I find the accused person guilty of the murder of Darlington Attah as charged. Accused person is accordingly, hereby convicted of the offence of murder. The sentence of this Court upon you, Mary Attah is death by hanging by the neck till you be dead and may the Lord have mercy on your soul."

Mother arrested and charged with the murder of her 6 weeks old son, by drowning

A North Carolina woman, 24 year old new mum, Jameisha Alexander was seen holding her 6 week old son, King, near a pond Saturday night by someone who immediately called security. But by the time officers arrived, Alexander was gone and the baby was in the water, according to her arrest warrant. Paramedics tried CPR to revive the newborn baby but the boy died a short time later. Alexander was taken into custody two hours later after she was found involved in a car wreck about 20 miles away. She was arrested and jailed on a murder charge pending a court hearing Tuesday. Alexander's family made excuses for her saying she was having a rough time, dealing with an abusive boyfriend and while joyous, her son's birth made things tougher. Her mum, Sandra Jones said: "She loved that baby with everything she had in her. I think she felt like she just couldn't do it herself,"Jones said, Alexander had taken maternity leave from her job at McDonald's to recover from her cesarean section, and was nervous about returning to work. She said her daughter was intensely private and proud, pushing away offers to watch the baby or to get her other help. Jones said she only discovered after her daughter's arrest that Alexander was being seen for depression before and after giving birth. Alexander had hoped her boyfriend of a year-and-a-half would have been more supportive after she got pregnant, but instead he moved her to a filthy home 20 miles from her family and went back to doing drugs and abusing her. Alexander's grandmother, Melba Jones, was in tears Tuesday, saying her granddaughter just wanted to make everything work. "All she had to do was talk to me. I always take in whoever needs help. I guess she just felt like nobody cared — when you get to that point."
