Earthquake hit Amatrice

Part of the Italian town of Amatrice is seen in ruins after an earthquake with an initial magnitude of 6.2 and a series of powerful aftershocks rocked the country's central region early on Wednesday. More than three dozen were killed, officials said, and the death toll was expected to rise as civilians and rescue workers continue to search the rubble. The mayor of Amatrice, Sergio Pirozzi, told the Associated Press "the town isn’t here anymore." Photograph by Gregorio Borgia—@ap.images
